The People Behind the fear index™ & Jumpseat Leadership
We help organizations see the conditions shaping how people think, act, and perform and work with leaders to change them. The Fear Index Assessment™ makes the invisible visible. Jumpseat Leadership provides the practices leaders use to create the conditions where people can do their best work.
Who we are
Jumpseat Leadership exists to help leaders create the conditions where people can be extraordinary.
Our work brings two things together.
The Fear Index Assessment™ helps organizations see the invisible conditions shaping behaviour, performance, and decision-making.
Jumpseat Leadership helps leaders strengthen the practices that change those conditions over time.
Together, they give leaders something most organizations do not have: a clear view of what is shaping performance, and a practical way to improve it.
We partner with organizations through keynotes, workshops, leadership sessions, and longer-term advisory work always with the same goal: helping people lead and contribute at their best.

What Makes Our Work Different
We do not begin by blaming people.
We begin by understanding the conditions people are responding to.
Because when conditions create uncertainty, people adapt. They hesitate. They stay silent. They protect themselves. They comply instead of contribute.
That does not mean people are broken. It means the system is telling us something.
Our work helps leaders make that visible, interpret it clearly, and take practical action.
That is where change begins.

Peter Docker is the founder of Jumpseat Leadership and author of Leading from the Jumpseat, a philosophy and practice built on the idea that leadership exists at every level.
After 25 years as a Royal Air Force senior officer including leading combat flying operations and serving as a pilot for the British Prime Minister — Peter went on to become a founding Igniter at Simon Sinek Inc. and co-author of Find Your Why.
Today, he works with leaders and organizations globally to help them see and shape the conditions that drive performance.
The Fear Index Assessment™ makes visible how people respond to the conditions around them especially when it matters most. Jumpseat Leadership provides the practices leaders use to change those conditions, creating environments where commitment, learning, and contribution can thrive.
Peter’s work is grounded in a clear belief: every organization is perfectly configured to achieve the results it is getting and when we change the conditions, we change what becomes possible.

She works alongside Peter Docker and Jumpseat Leadership as a strategic partner, bringing the diagnostic insight that helps leaders see the conditions shaping performance and contributing to work that turns that insight into practical action.
With over a decade of experience in global leadership environments, Ashleigh has worked alongside leaders including David Marquet, Simon Sinek, Dave Anderson, and Peter Docker.
At the heart of her work is a simple belief: when leaders can see the conditions shaping behavior, they can change them and when those conditions change, what people are capable of changes with them.

Leading from the Jumpseat helps leadership develop at every level by focusing on the conditions people are working within.
The Fear Index Assessment™ makes those conditions visible showing where hesitation, silence, protection, or compliance may be shaping how people think and act.
Jumpseat Leadership provides the practices leaders use to respond strengthening commitment, humble confidence, and belonging.
Together, this helps people perform better together and accomplish more. It creates a culture that is not just supportive, but generative where people can step forward, contribute, and grow.
Because when we shape the conditions intentionally, what we build does not just work today — it continues to grow.
How We Work
However the work begins, the goal is the same. We help leaders see what is shaping performance and create the conditions for people to do their best work.
We meet organizations at different points in the journey.
-
Sometimes the starting point is a keynote that shifts how people think.
-
Sometimes it is the Fear Index Assessment™ that helps leaders see what has been hard to define.
-
Sometimes it is a workshop, leadership offsite, or longer-term partnership to help leaders strengthen the conditions shaping performance every day.
What ties all of our work together is simple:
-
We make the invisible visible
-
We help leaders strengthen the practices that shape conditions
-
We turn insight into practical action
That is how change becomes possible.
